St. Michael South
Kirk D. M. Humphrey is a Barbadian public servant and community advocate whose work has been grounded in strengthening families, building safer communities, and expanding opportunity for everyday people.
Raised in The Pine and shaped by community life in St. Michael South, he is driven by the belief that policy must meet people where they are, and that dignity, opportunity, and care are not privileges, but rights.
He holds a BSc in Management, an MSc in Social Policy and Planning for Developing Countries, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University, where he focused on public leadership, economics, and development policy.
Before entering elected office, Kirk served in several senior roles across Barbados and the region, including Manager of the Child Care Board, Director of Social Policy Research and Planning, Director of Constituency Empowerment, and Senior Development Officer with Global Affairs Canada, with responsibility for Barbados and the OECS.
He first became the Member of Parliament for St. Michael South in 2018, and he has remained deeply committed to the constituency.
At the heart of his service is a simple principle: People Over Politics. This is reflected in how he listens, how he shows up, and how he delivers.
A major focus of his constituency work has been youth empowerment, sport, and healthy community life. He has prioritised training opportunities, skills development, and job placement for young people, while investing in sport as a tool for discipline, confidence, mentorship, and positive community identity.
Nationally, Kirk has been a leading voice in advancing child protection, social empowerment, crime prevention, and community-based development, helping to modernise systems so that support reaches those who need it most.
Kirk is an award-winning poet and the proud father of two daughters, whose lives keep him grounded and whose future strengthens his commitment to building a fairer, safer, and more caring Barbados. His motivation is captured in the words he lives by: “For love, every time.” And across St. Michael South, people often say it simply: “Kirk does work!”
